# Update legacy Ucc.Creator sites

Review the legacy Ucc.Creator update procedure and its compatibility warnings. This is not the modernized UCC Site Creator path.

{% hint style="warning" %}
This procedure applies to legacy Ucc.Creator packages and the OneUCC/subsite models described below, including the 8.3.x components listed in retained bundle notes. It is not the modernized UCC Site Creator setup path. The historical instructions include retired SharePoint authentication and PowerShell dependencies; have your partner review compatibility before running them. Do not treat a historical reference to the latest PnP PowerShell as a current supported-version recommendation.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Tip

The Dialogue Cloud side bundle software is backward compatible with older versions of Ucc.Creator in your tenant (unless specifically mentioned in [Bundle Release Notes](https://atlas.anywhere.now/release-notes/dialogue-cloud-neo)). Dialogue Cloud UCC's should always be updated before updating Ucc.Creator sites.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Important

Updating a Ucc.Creator SharePoint site may take **15 minutes or more** (30 minutes has also been reported) **per UCC!** The speed is dependent on update allowance of SharePoint in Microsoft 365 and cannot be influenced.

When using the **OneUCC** model this can be planned more efficiently. When using the **Legacy** (subsite) Ucc.Creator model sufficient time should be allotted for all UCC subsites to get updated sequentially during this upgrade process (e.g. updating 25 UCC (sub)sites could take up to 12,5 hours!).

Creating new **OneUCC** sites with the latest template, migrating settings and the UCC to this new site **one UCC at a time** is the only way to upgrade multiple UCC's over a longer but more controlled time period.
{% endhint %}

## Update

**Using ucc.update from version of ucc.creator 8.2.0.4 or lower**

1. Unpack UCC.Creator.v8.0.xxxxx.x.zip
2. Navigate to folder UCC.Creator
3. Make sure you have filled configuration.xml with the proper settings
4. Open the regular PowerShell command window and run UCC.Update.ps1

   As you can see the sites are updated:

**Using Ucc.Update script from UCC.Creator 8.2.0.7 or higher with subsites disabled (SharePoint Online only, OneUCC model)**

{% hint style="warning" %}
Warning

UCC.Creator 8.2.0.7 and higher uses the latest **PnP Powershell** instead of **SPO Management Shell** used in earlier versions of UCC.Creator. Please check your installed PowerShell versions (both **Windows PowerShell** and **PowerShell 7.x** are supported) and latest Microsoft or PowerShell 7.x updates if faced with issues running the scripts.
{% endhint %}

1. Unpack UCC.Creator.v8.x.x.x.zip
2. Navigate to folder UCC.Creator
3. Make sure you have filled **configuration.xml** with the proper settings of the UCC site.
4. Open the regular PowerShell command window and run "**UCC.Update.ps1**"
5. Repeat step 3 and 4 for every UCC site which needs updating.

**Using Ucc.Update script from Ucc.Creator 8.2.0.7 or higher with subsites enabled (SharePoint Online only, Legacy model)**

{% hint style="warning" %}

{% endhint %}

1. Unpack UCC.Creator.v8.0.xxxxx.x.zip
2. Navigate to folder UCC.Creator
3. Make sure you have filled **configuration.xml** with the proper settings
4. Open the regular PowerShell command window and run "**UCC.Update.ps1**-useSubsites"

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://atlas.anywhere.now/operate/maintain-and-change/update-legacy-ucc-creator.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
